About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AI Expert on a contract basis to design, build, and operationalise intelligent agent solutions for our customer facing platforms. Working within a leading Australian telco environment, you will lead the end to end delivery of multi agent orchestration systems and conversational AI experiences ‿ spanning IVR, virtual assistants, and enterprise AI pipelines ‿ that directly impact millions of customers.

This is a hands on technical role requiring deep expertise in agentic AI frameworks, conversational platform integration, and the orchestration of multi agent decision processes at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Agent Design & Development

  • Design, develop, and deploy intelligent agents using orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent
  • Define and implement multi agent decision processes (MDP) including agent roles, task routing, inter agent communication, and escalation logic
  • Integrate LLM backends (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Gemini, etc.) with robust prompt engineering, tool calling, and memory management patterns

Conversational AI & Virtual Agents

  • Collaborate with CX and product teams to translate customer journey requirements into robust conversational flows and intent models
  • Tune NLU/NLP models for telco specific contexts including billing, service requests, fault management, and plan changes
  • Ensure seamless handoff between AI agents and human agents (live agent escalation)

Platform Operations & Governance

  • Manage the deployment, versioning, and lifecycle of agent configurations across environments (dev, UAT, prod)
  • Establish monitoring, evaluation, and observability frameworks for agent performance ‿ including hallucination detection, intent accuracy, and task completion rates
  • Define guardrails, safety policies, and fallback mechanisms to ensure responsible AI behaviour
  • Maintain documentation for agent architectures, decision flows, and integration specifications
