Litton Andrews is delighted to partner with a highly regarded private specialist practice in Spring Hill to recruit a Junior Medical Receptionist/Secretary. This is a unique opportunity to join an established and respected neurology practice led by one of Queensland's most accomplished clinicians. With extensive experience across private practice, tertiary hospital services, academic medicine and internationally recognised research, the specialist is widely regarded as a leader in the field of neurological disorders and movement disorders.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice while providing a welcoming and professional experience for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities Include (but Will Not Be Limited To)

  • Providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for patients, visitors and referrers
  • Managing incoming telephone enquiries and responding to patient requests in a courteous and timely manner
  • Coordinating specialist appointments, recalls, and waiting lists
  • Preparing patient files and ensuring medical records are maintained accurately and confidentially
  • Processing referrals, correspondence, and specialist reports
  • Liaising with general practitioners, allied health professionals, hospitals and other healthcare providers
  • Managing appointment confirmations and patient follow-up communications
  • Assisting with medical billing, invoicing, Medicare claims, and EFTPOS transactions
  • Maintaining accurate patient demographic and billing information within the practice management system - Shexie
  • Supporting the specialist and wider team with administrative duties to ensure the smooth day to day operation of the practice
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and other practice correspondence
  • Contributing to a positive, patient-centred environment and upholding the highest standards of customer service

Skills And Experience Required Include

  • Previous experience in a medical reception, administration and/or secretarial role within a medical office environment will be highly regarded
  • A genuine interest in healthcare and delivering exceptional patient care
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, clinicians and external stakeholders
  • A compassionate, empathetic and patient-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently in a busy practice environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling confidential information and documentation
  • Sound computer literacy skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and strong work ethic

Remuneration

This position will offer a competitive hourly rate between

$30 - $35 per hour + superannuation, based on recent and relevant skills and experience. Additional benefits of the position include:
