Windows Server · Office 365 · Active Directory · Azure · Networking · MSP
Looking for a step up where you're not just closing tickets, but actually shaping how IT gets delivered for your clients? This IT Support Engineer role with a Canberra-based MSP gives you the autonomy to dig into projects, fix the gnarly stuff, and grow your career in a team that actually backs you.
You'll be joining a medium-sized MSP that holds its own against the bigger players through better service, faster response times, and a genuinely tight-knit team. Clients span finance, law, construction, and not-for-profits, so no two days look the same – and the service desk here is built for more than ticket triage. There's real room to work on projects, take on complex issues, and help shape IT strategy for the businesses you support.
If you understand how an MSP ticks – juggling multiple clients, managing change, switching context all day – and you're solid on Windows Server, Active Directory, and core networking fundamentals, this is worth a conversation.
- Location: Canberra (on-site)
- Position: Full-time, Permanent
- Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 + Super
- Work arrangement: On-site, based at Canberra HQ
WHO ARE WE?
We're a medium-sized MSP that competes with the big players by offering better service, faster response times, and a tight-knit team environment. Here, you won't be just another number – you'll have the autonomy to make an impact, work on interesting projects, and grow your career in a supportive team.
We're looking for an L2 Engineer to join our team in a fast-paced MSP environment. We support clients across finance, law, construction, and not-for-profits, and our service desk is more than just ticket triage – you'll have time to work on projects, tackle complex issues, and help shape IT strategies for our clients.
ABOUT YOU
We're not expecting you to be an expert in everything, but you do need to understand how an MSP operates – juggling multiple clients, handling change management, and switching between different environments throughout the day.
You won't be expected to architect an entire network from scratch or configure complex BGP routing, but you should know the fundamentals of VLANs – what they do, why they matter in a multi-tenant setup, and how to properly segment traffic.
On the server side, you should be comfortable deploying and configuring Windows Server, setting up Active Directory from scratch, managing Group Policy, and ensuring DNS and DHCP are running smoothly. You don't need to be a PowerShell wizard, but knowing how to automate basic tasks will make your life easier.
At the end of the day, you need to be able to walk into an unfamiliar IT environment, figure out how things are set up, and get the job done – whether that's troubleshooting a failing backup, deploying a new domain controller, or diagnosing weird network behaviour across a client's offices.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Handling troubleshooting across networking, servers, and Microsoft workplace solutions
- Working on projects such as migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and cloud deployments
- Managing multiple clients and adapting to different environments, ensuring best practices are followed
- Translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders to help them make informed decisions
WE NEED YOU TO HAVE…
- 4+ years of MSP experience – you know how an MSP operates, from change management to balancing multiple clients
- Exposure to Azure and Microsoft 365 administration in a multi-tenant MSP setting
- Networking knowledge – you don't need to configure a full enterprise network, but you should understand VLANs, subnetting, firewall rules, and how to troubleshoot network issues
- Strong Windows Server experience – deploying and configuring servers, setting up Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
- Proactive problem-solving – you might not have the answer immediately, but you know how to find it and get the job done
IT'S NICE TO HAVE…
- Basic PowerShell scripting for automating routine tasks
- Experience working across regulated or compliance-conscious clients (finance, law)
- A genuine interest in process improvement and making the service desk run smoother for everyone
