Northern Health is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Grade 1 Speech Pathologists to join our Allied Health Rotational Program. This is an exciting opportunity for early‑career clinicians to gain broad experience across the continuum of adult care within a highly supportive and structured environment.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub‑acute, mental health, specialist, community and home‑based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital. Mental Health services are delivered across Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role
This position is 2 years fixed term full time.
This Grade 1 position forms part of a supported rotational program across acute, inpatient rehabilitation and community services. The successful applicant will develop strong foundational skills while working with experienced clinicians and receiving structured supervision, mentoring and professional development.
The Grade 1 Speech Pathologist will provide evidence‑based assessment and management of adult communication, swallowing and cognitive‑communication disorders. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, person‑centred care and contribute to high‑quality patient outcomes.
This role is responsible for
- Delivering evidence‑based Speech Pathology services to adult patients
- Managing a varied caseload under supervision across acute, rehabilitation and community settings
- Contributing to multidisciplinary care and supporting safe discharge planning
- Participating in supervision, professional development and competency programs
- Engaging in quality improvement and service development activities
- Maintaining accurate, timely and compliant clinical documentation
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An approved degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- Foundational clinical skills in adult communication, swallowing and cognitive‑communication disorders
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication, organisation and time‑management skills
- A commitment to evidence‑based practice, reflective learning and professional growth
- Flexibility and willingness to work across a range of clinical settings and sites
