About The Company

A well regarded Melbourne based superannuation fund with a strong member focus is seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Manager to join its finance function on a permanent, full-time basis.

About The Role

Reporting to senior leadership, this is a broad and impactful role sitting at the heart of the fund's financial operations. You will lead a small team and take ownership across financial reporting, statutory accounts, APRA reporting, audit and compliance. This an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is up to date on accounting standards, technically strong and who wants genuine ownership across the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading the preparation and delivery of financial statements and statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards
  • Overseeing cash flow management, liquidity monitoring and banking relationships
  • Preparation of board packs for review
  • Coordinating the external audit process and acting as a key point of contact for auditors
  • Ensuring compliance with APRA prudential standards and other relevant regulatory obligations
  • General ledger management including reconciliations
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of accounting professionals
  • Supporting continuous improvement of financial processes, systems and controls
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across the business to provide financial insights and analysis

About The Candidate

  • CA or CPA qualified with solid post qualification experience in a financial accounting or reporting role
  • Experience within superannuation, financial services or a regulated environment
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including experience with statutory reporting and relevant accounting standards
  • Proven people leadership capability with the ability to develop and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities
