Operating Model & Transformation Lead

We are partnering with a major Australian organisation undergoing a significant transformation program and are seeking an experienced Operating Model & Organisation Design specialist to lead a critical piece of work across business and operational functions.
This is an opportunity to drive meaningful organisational change, working directly with senior executives to redesign structures, operating models, governance frameworks and workforce capabilities within a complex enterprise environment.
The Opportunity
As the lead consultant, you will assess the current state, identify opportunities to improve organisational effectiveness, and design a future operating model that aligns strategy, structure, capability and execution.
You will work closely with executive stakeholders to simplify decision-making, improve accountability, optimise costs and create an organisation designed to deliver future business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct organisational diagnostics across structure, capability, governance and operating effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce duplication and optimise operating costs.
- Design future-state operating models, including value streams, service ownership and interaction models.
- Lead organisation design activities including structure redesign, spans and layers analysis, role clarity and accountability frameworks.
- Define governance models, decision rights and escalation pathways.
- Assess workforce capability requirements and support transition planning.
- Develop implementation roadmaps and executive-level recommendations.
- Produce board-ready presentations and transformation artefacts.
- Partner with business leaders, finance, people teams and operational stakeholders to successfully land change.
About You
You are a seasoned transformation professional who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery capability.
You have personally led major operating model and organisation design initiatives and are comfortable navigating ambiguity, influencing senior stakeholders and driving outcomes in complex environments.
Experience Required
- 10+ years' experience in operating model design, organisation design or enterprise transformation.
- Proven track record delivering end-to-end transformation programs within large and complex organisations.
- Experience redesigning organisational structures, governance models and operating frameworks.
- Strong understanding of workforce planning, capability design and organisational effectiveness.
- Ability to engage and influence Executive Leadership Teams and senior stakeholders.
- Experience developing practical solutions that can be implemented and sustained.
Highly Desirable
- Experience within telecommunications, infrastructure, utilities, engineering or operationally intensive environments.
- Exposure to network operations, field services, customer operations or technology-led organisations.
- Background in leading consulting firms or major transformation programs.
- Experience delivering cost optimisation and operating model uplift initiatives.
