As the business continues to expand, they are seeking an experienced Accountant to take ownership of the finance function and support the ongoing success of the organisation.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced Accountant, Company Accountant, or Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys working autonomously and being involved in all aspects of the finance function.

Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance obligations are met, and providing valuable financial insights to support business performance and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end bookkeeping and accounting functions
  • Management of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Payroll processing and associated compliance requirements
  • Month-end processing, journals, and reconciliations
  • Preparation of management reports and financial information
  • BAS, IAS, and statutory compliance obligations
  • Cash flow monitoring and forecasting
  • Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
  • Reviewing and improving existing financial processes
  • Implementing and documenting internal accounting procedures and controls
  • Supporting project costing, job profitability, and commercial reporting
  • Assisting management with financial analysis and business performance reporting

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Previous experience in a standalone Accountant, Company Accountant, or Senior Bookkeeper position
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business
  • Experience using accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience within construction, design & build, property, development, or project-based environments will be highly regarded
