Primary objective

Lead the management, digitisation and publication of current, historical exploration and NTGS geochemistry, drilling and

associated geoscience datasets, ensuring they remain accurate, accessible and trusted. Manage project resources while

upholding rigorous custodianship, standards and integrity of industry and precompetitive geoscience data within NTGS

databases and repositories

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Manage processes for importing, validating, maintaining and delivering industry and NTGS geoscience data across

Geobank and related systems.

2. Ensure integrity, accessibility and discoverability of exploration geochemistry, drilling and other key datasets.

3. Plan, deliver and monitor projects, reporting against business plans to achieve required outcomes.

4. Develop, implement and document standards, vocabularies, metadata and workflows to enhance data quality, efficiency

of access to data and ensure data readiness for AI and ML.

5. Monitor data‑management and interoperability trends to guide timely adoption of appropriate digital tools.

6. Contribute to spatial data model development and FAIR‑aligned improvements to data delivery.

7. Generate reports that support geoscience projects and inform senior management.

8. Provide expert advice on data holdings, systems, and dissemination, including contributions high-level correspondence.

9. Lead digitalisation of legacy industry geoscience data, including project planning, procurement and contract management,

performance monitoring, and reporting aligned with strategic goals.

10.Build staff capability by guiding, mentoring and training NTGS personnel in the use of data systems and best‑practice

workflows (particularly Geobank).

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Tertiary qualification from a recognised institution in geoscience, data science or a related discipline.

2. Demonstrated experience with data management systems, relational databases and SQL, together with demonstrated

capability in developing standards, metadata and FAIR‑aligned workflows and associated documentation for managing

large and complex datasets.

3. Demonstrated experience in the resources exploration sector and strong knowledge of exploration data management

systems.

4. Demonstrated experience in the QA/QC of scientific data, preferably geoscientific data, with strong attention to detail

and experience integrating datasets in a GIS environment.

5. Applied knowledge of the use of coding languages (e.g., Python) and/or ETL tools (e.g., FME) for automating processes,

workflows and data analytics.

6. Demonstrated experience in project and/or contract management, including the ability to deliver outcomes within set

time frames, think logically and with highly developed problem-solving skills.

7. Demonstrated high‑level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff.

Desirable

1. Formal training, qualifications or demonstrated experience in any of data management (e.g., DAMA), data modelling, FME,

Geobank, designing and building relational databases.
