About the Agency
As the steward for digitally enabling Australia’s health system, the Agency plays a key role in coordinating national engagement, delivery, and adoption of digital health to facilitate person-centred, connected healthcare. Our responsibilities span national digital health services and systems, including My Health Record, Electronic Prescriptions, and the 1800Medicare App.
About the Role
The Service Designer role is a full-time, ongoing position accountable, under limited direction, for designing end-to-end service journeys informed by user evidence and aligned to strategic outcomes. The role drives improvements across digital and non-digital touchpoints, ensuring services are accessible, effective, and responsive to the needs of all Australians in support of the National Digital Health Strategy.
As a key member of the Experience & Service Design team, the Service Designer applies evidence-led practices to place users at the centre of service design. The role works collaboratively across teams and the broader health ecosystem to deliver cohesive, high-quality service experiences that support continuous improvement and better outcomes.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in complex sectors such as health, with the ability to design and deliver in challenging stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying human-centred design methods, including research, synthesis, service mapping, co-design, and concept development.
- Ability to translate user, business, and policy needs into clear, actionable design recommendations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in relevant tools (e.g. Microsoft suite, Miro) and a preference for formal qualifications in Service Design, Human-Centred Design, or related disciplines.

Salary: $101,379- $114,373 plus 15.4% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
