Job Title: Compliance Officer, Technical Contracts
Location: Sydney, Australia (Melbourne considered)
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee technical contract compliance across a portfolio of operational solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets in Australia.
- Review, interpret, and track obligations under EPC, O&M, grid connection, and other technical contracts to ensure ongoing compliance across the asset portfolio.
- Monitor contractor and counterparty performance against contractual obligations; identify non-conformances and coordinate resolution with the relevant project and legal teams.
- Maintain a centralized contract register and obligation tracker; ensure all key dates, milestones, warranties, and performance guarantees are actively managed.
- Liaise with asset management, engineering, and legal teams to ensure technical contract requirements are properly reflected in operational procedures and asset management plans.
- Support the review of variation orders, claims, and contract amendments; provide compliance-focused input on risk and obligation implications.
- Assist with regulatory compliance monitoring across Australian energy market requirements relevant to the portfolio.
- Coordinate with grid and network operators, including compliance with connection agreements and applicable grid codes.
- Prepare compliance reports, risk summaries, and management updates for the Head of Asset Management and senior leadership.
- Support the onboarding and review of new contracts as the Australian portfolio grows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Law, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 to 6 years of experience in a technical contracts, compliance, or asset management role within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage obligations under complex technical and commercial contracts.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple contract streams simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; comfortable preparing management-level reports and liaising with technical and legal counterparts.
- Australian citizen or Permanent Resident; no visa sponsorship is available for this role.
- Based in Sydney; Melbourne-based candidates will be considered.
Desired Experience
- Solar and/or BESS asset management or compliance experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Australian energy market regulations, NEM frameworks, and grid connection compliance requirements.
- Experience with utilities or network operators (such as DNSPs or TNSPs) is highly relevant to this role.
- Exposure to O&M contract management and performance monitoring in an operational renewables environment.
