Administration Officer – Specialist Clinic

Orange Health Service

About the role

The Administration role within Specialist Clinics at Orange Hospital is responsible for coordinating outpatient services across a broad range of specialties, including fracture clinics, respiratory, infectious diseases, gynaecology, endocrinology, and other medical disciplines. This position is rostered to work Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

This involves managing appointments, processing referrals, maintaining waitlists, and ensuring clinics run efficiently and are appropriately utilised. A key component of the role is the accurate clerking of patients, particularly for high-volume areas such as fracture clinics, which includes registering patients, verifying demographic and eligibility details, updating electronic medical records, and ensuring all referral information is correctly captured and allocated to the appropriate specialty.

Administration staff also provide essential frontline support by managing patient enquiries, facilitating check-in and clinic flow, and liaising closely with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to support service delivery.

The role requires strong organisational skills to handle competing priorities across multiple specialties, maintain data accuracy for reporting and performance monitoring, and ensure patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner. Overall, the role is critical in supporting patient access to care, reducing delays, and enabling effective specialist clinic operations
