What are we looking for?

  • Experience in general Gardening/Landscaping maintenance or general grounds maintenance across commercial, residential or public settings.
  • Able to safely and effectively use gardening tools and equipment to maintain outdoor spaces and deliver quality outcomes.
  • A strong commitment to safety and understanding of WHS policies and procedures.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members and the public.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Able to safely and effectively use gardening tools and equipment to maintain outdoor spaces and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Holds a current Class C drivers' licence or is willing to obtain one.
  • A white Card (work safely in the construction industry.)

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

Essential

  • General working experience (labouring or otherwise)
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to deal in an appropriate manner with the general public
  • General labouring experience or capable of carrying out labouring duties
  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White) Card or willingness to obtain at your own cost
  • Knowledge of and commitment to WHS and EEO principles

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in Horticulture or related area
  • Competency in the use of various plant items
  • Current Traffic Controller card (Blue ticket)
  • Current Class C driver licence (manual vehicle operation)
  • Previous experience in Local Government
