In this role, you'll:
Support the Aboriginal Cultural Landscape Management project, part of the Network Resilience Program. You’ll help design, deliver and review cross cultural projects that align the management of transport corridors with the land and sea management goals of Aboriginal communities. The aim is to strengthen corridor resilience and build strong relationships with Aboriginal people, Country and culture. You’ll also help support business and economic development opportunities within specific Aboriginal communities.
Working under the Manager, Aboriginal Engagement, you’ll lead program development and delivery across the state. You’ll collaborate closely with Aboriginal Traditional Owners and Custodians, as well as partners across government.
The Aboriginal Program Specialist ACLM will also be responsible for:
- Co designing processes and work programs that deliver tailored Aboriginal cultural landscape management activities with key stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
- Managing project plan implementation within a set region, meeting scope, time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
- Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships by communicating, negotiating and resolving issues to keep deliverables on track.
- Monitoring and evaluating pilot engagement outcomes and making recommendations to support evidence based planning and decisions.
- Mentoring and overseeing Aboriginal cultural landscape management delivery partners to ensure quality, governance compliance and successful project milestones.
- Developing partnerships across government, land managers, Native Title bodies and Aboriginal organisations, while providing advice to support project development and delivery.
This is a fixed term full-time position (up to 31 December 2027) located at Dubbo.
This role can be filled through remote working and can be based anywhere in New South Wales. This role requires in person attendance on particular days of the week at your local TfNSW office.
These are Aboriginal-identified roles as they involve the development and delivery of services and programs which impact or require liaison with Aboriginal people and/or communities. About You
You are an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
You have relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in either stakeholder engagement or land and sea management.
You understand Aboriginal protocols, and you respect the rights and interests of Aboriginal communities.
You bring strong skills in solution implementation, community driven problem solving, conflict resolution, collaboration, trust building, emotional intelligence, and clear boundary setting.
You can contribute to existing Aboriginal community initiatives, and you support building and strengthening community capability.
You have strong project management and communication skills, and you are able to positively influence others to work cooperatively with internal teams, external partners, and the community.
You can research information effectively and you prepare clear written reports, budgets, project plans, memos, and other documents.
You are organised and you can manage administrative tasks for meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas, briefing notes, and recording minutes.
