Early Childhood Educator

West Hawthorn Pre-school is a non profit community-based, sessional kindergarten. We provide two programs for 3-Year-Old and two programs for 4-Year-Old children. Established in 1947, West Hawthorn Pre-school has been providing enriching learning experiences for over 70 years. We are a friendly, caring and respected pre-school and can be found nestled amongst the peaceful and leafy surrounds of Smart Street Reserve. Our programs are based firmly on the philosophy that children’s work is play. We strive to ignite joy, curiosity, persistence and resilience in our children and to foster each child’s self esteem in a relaxed and stimulating environment. West Hawthorn Pre-School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic educator to join our 4-year-old kindergarten team.

Position Details

* Thursdays and Fridays, 8.00am–5.00pm (including non-contact time) * Fixed-term position for Terms 3 and 4, 2026 * Opportunity for extension into 2027 * Employment under Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement * 10 week leave model * Pay rate: \$30 to \$32 per hour * Additional above award conditions Applications received before 5.00pm on 9 July 2026 will receive first consideration. About the role

The successful applicant will join a highly experienced and supportive team of teachers and educators working across our Grey Roo and Red Roo 4-year-old kindergarten groups. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively. They will be highly organised and have sound knowledge of early childhood education, with demonstrated ability to work with the team to maintain a kindergarten program that exceeds national standards.

About you

The successful applicant will share and look to extend our kindergarten’s philosophy and will meet the following requirements: * Demonstrated experience in the education industry, with particular consideration given to a previous role in a community-based kindergarten. * Previous experience working within kindergartens with current knowledge of early childhood education theory and practice. * Sound understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and/or Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). * Strong communication skills with the ability to build secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with children, families, and colleagues. * Understanding of the National Quality Standards (NQS). * Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture. * Upholding an inclusive and welcoming learning environment that recognises and values the diverse backgrounds of all children, families, and the local community. * Demonstrated professionalism and ethical conduct in their interactions with children, families, and colleagues. * Commitment to ongoing professional development.

* Must hold a minimum qualification of a Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care recognised by ACECQA. * Hold a current ACECQA compliant First Aid Certificate, including Resuscitation, Asthma Management, and Anaphylaxis. * Current child protection training. * 2 Professional Referees
