Certificate III in Horticulture (Parks & Gardens)

Location: Rookwood Cemetery (with occasional work at North Rocks, Kemps Creek & Liverpool)
A full‑time 4‑year apprenticeship in Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) – Certificate III is available for an immediate start.
You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the grounds of a section at Rookwood Cemetery, with occasional work at North Rocks, Kemps Creek and Liverpool. Transport from Rookwood to these additional sites will be provided.
About The Role
Your duties will include:
- Mowing (push and ride‑on)
- Hedging and maintaining garden beds
- Fertilising, planting, replacing plants and weeding
- Rubbish collection
- Chemical spraying
- Creating new garden areas and maintaining established landscapes
As part of your apprenticeship, you will also receive rotational training in operating earthmoving equipment such as:
- Backhoe
- Skid steer
- Mini excavators
You will obtain the relevant tickets during your training.
Requirements
- Well‑presented with good communication skills
- Current driver’s licence and own reliable transport
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Uniform and PPE supplied
- First Aid Certificate and Hepatitis B/Tetanus vaccinations are preferred but not essential
Training & Hours
- TAFE attendance: 1 day per week for 2.5 years (paid workday, no fees)
- Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm OR
- 6:00am–2:30pm
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) each month
