Darebin City Council is looking for an experienced and people‑focused Safety and Wellbeing Officer who thrives on being onsite in the workplace, building relationships, and making a real impact. As a Safety and Wellbeing Officer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our safety culture, supporting leaders and employees and helping us continuously improve how we care for our people.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work onsite across our organisation, partnering with leaders, employees and Health & Safety Representatives to:
- Provide practical, timely and accurate safety and wellbeing advice
- Support incident investigations and recommend meaningful corrective actions
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits, and help track and close out actions
- Assist with risk assessments, ergonomic assessments and safety projects
- Contribute to wellbeing and injury prevention initiatives
- Support early intervention, return‑to‑work processes and workers compensation administration
- Prepare reports, analyse safety data and support continuous improvement.
About you
You’re someone who brings energy, initiative and a genuine desire to help people work safely and well. You enjoy being onsite, building trust, and influencing positive behaviours. You’re organised, curious, and ready to expand your safety expertise and professional capability in a supportive team.
You’ll also bring:
- Broad experience in a safety, wellbeing or injury management role
- Practical understanding of safe systems of work, incident investigations and risk management
- Knowledge of OH&S legislation
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain confidentiality
- Confidence using safety management systems, reporting tools and Microsoft Office.
A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (or related field), a Working with Children Check and a Victorian Driver’s Licence are required.
