I’m currently partnering with a leading player in the battery energy storage (BESS) space, supporting the clean energy transition across Australia. Our client is looking to bring on a Quality & Compliance Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring their products are safe, certified, and market-ready.

This is a high-impact position sitting within the engineering team, with strong cross-functional exposure and influence across product, manufacturing, and supply chain.

The Role

This position will take ownership of product-level quality, safety, and compliance across BESS systems, ensuring alignment with Australian and international standards while driving best practice across the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead product risk management activities (FMEA, Safety-in-Design, hazard analysis)
  • Own compliance against standards such as AS/NZS, IEC, UL9540A, NFPA and grid requirements
  • Provide quality, safety, and compliance sign-off prior to product release (hardware & software)
  • Manage and continuously improve ISO 9001-aligned Quality Management Systems
  • Drive NCR, RCA and CAPA processes and broader quality improvement initiatives
  • Oversee supplier compliance, certifications, and manufacturing quality controls
  • Support certification processes, audits, and technical documentation submissions
  • Act as the go-to for compliance and regulatory guidance across engineering and product teams

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience in quality and compliance within engineering or energy sectors
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant standards and certification processes
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and quality management systems
  • Proven capability across risk management, RCA/CAPA and product safety
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence cross-functionally

Nice to Have

  • Experience with UL9540A or battery energy storage systems
  • Exposure to certification bodies or grid compliance requirements
