About the Opportunity

A leading, award-winning accounting firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to join their growing team across the Sunshine Coast or Brisbane. This is a genuine management role within a progressive, technology-driven firm that has been recognised as one of Australia's top accounting practices.

You will lead a team of offshore bookkeeping staff, own a diverse portfolio of clients and play a key role in delivering high quality bookkeeping services to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of up to 5 offshore bookkeeping staff including Team Leaders
  • Act as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of clients
  • Oversee quality and accuracy of all bookkeeping work including bank reconciliations, payroll processing and statutory reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory deadlines including BAS, IAS, PAYGW, Payroll Tax, TPAR and Superannuation
  • Lead onboarding, training and performance development of bookkeeping staff
  • Assist with accounting software integrations, conversions and transitions
  • Liaise with the ATO on client payment plans, penalty remissions and compliance matters
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies through high-level reviews

Requirements

  • 6+ years experience in bookkeeping, preferably in public practice
  • Advanced Xero skills with current Xero Advisor and Payroll Certifications
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MYOB, QuickBooks or Dext
  • Prior experience supervising and reviewing the work of 2 or more staff
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience in the building and construction industry highly regarded
