People and Culture Manager
Karan & Co
About our client
Our client is entering one of the most important chapters in its journey.
Backed by a global resources leader and delivering major energy infrastructure projects, the business is evolving from a project focused operation into a scalable infrastructure organisation with ambitious long term growth plans.
With a significant project pipeline to transform energy generation, strong leadership and a clear vision for the future, the foundations for growth are already in place.
What comes next will be driven by people.
Leadership recognises that future success will depend on attracting, developing and retaining exceptional talent while building the systems, capability and culture required to support sustainable growth.
As a result, they are making a deliberate investment in People & Culture and seeking a leader who can help shape the organisation from the inside out.
The opportunity
Few People & Culture opportunities allow you to influence an organisation at this stage of its evolution.
This newly created standalone role has been established to build the people foundations that will support the next phase of growth.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will have a genuine seat at the table and the opportunity to influence decisions that impact the future direction of the business.
This is not a role where you inherit established systems, large HR teams or mature frameworks.
This is an opportunity to create them.
Working closely with leaders across the business, you will establish the structures, processes and capability required to support workforce growth, project mobilisation, leadership development and organisational performance.
You will influence workforce planning, recruitment strategy, employee experience, industrial relations, organisational design and leadership capability while remaining closely connected to the day to day realities of a project based business.
The impact of your work will be visible across the organisation.
The systems you implement, the leaders you develop and the culture you help create will influence how the business grows for years to come.
Benefits and working arrangements
This is a permanent Brisbane based leadership opportunity offering direct access to executive decision makers and the ability to influence meaningful business outcomes from day one. You'll be measured on outcomes and hybrid work is accepted and encouraged here.
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy while being supported by leaders who genuinely value the contribution of People & Culture to organisational performance.
The business is entering a sustained growth phase, creating a unique opportunity to build capability, establish best practice and help shape the future operating model of the organisation.
As the business continues to expand, there is genuine potential for the successful individual to broaden their remit, build a team and evolve their role alongside the organisation.
A bit about you
You enjoy building capability, creating structure and helping organisations realise their potential.
You are equally comfortable discussing workforce strategy with executives as you are supporting operational leaders with recruitment, employee relations, organisational development or performance matters.
You understand that successful People & Culture leadership requires both strategic thinking and practical execution.
You enjoy working closely with leaders, influencing decisions and creating solutions that support both people and business outcomes.
Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to build something meaningful and leave a lasting impact.
Desired skills and experience
You may currently be a People & Culture Manager, Senior HR Business Partner or People & Culture Lead with experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, energy or other project based environments.
You bring strong generalist capability across the employee lifecycle together with experience supporting organisational growth, workforce planning, recruitment, leadership development and employee relations.
You understand the challenges of operational businesses and can confidently partner with leaders to deliver practical and commercially sound outcomes.
You are credible, pragmatic and comfortable operating autonomously.
You enjoy influencing stakeholders, solving complex problems and creating structure where it is needed.
Experience supporting growing organisations and working closely with operational leadership teams will be highly regarded.
This role offers something increasingly rare in today's market.
The opportunity to help build an organisation rather than simply maintain one.
You will have the trust, visibility and influence to shape culture, strengthen capability and contribute directly to the long term success of a growing infrastructure business. For the right person, this is an opportunity to create a legacy while building the foundations for future growth.
