Beacon Legal has partnered with a leading global engineering and construction company in the search for a Legal Counsel to join the Brisbane office. This opportunity would suit a lawyer with 5-6 years’ experience who is looking to step into a broad and commercially significant role.

We’re seeking a commercially minded and proactive front-end construction lawyer to join a high-performing and small legal team. This role offers exposure to a broad range of front-end construction and project development work and the chance to work closely with a business operating in the infrastructure, energy and resources sectors. You’ll be part of a well-regarded in-house team supporting major, complex projects across Australia and globally.

About the Role

  • Lead and support the negotiation and drafting of a broad range of construction and project-related contracts.
  • Advise on legal and commercial risks across major infrastructure and resources projects.
  • Support stakeholders across project, procurement and commercial teams.
  • Manage external counsel where required.
  • Assist with governance and internal compliance processes.
  • Contribute to strategic project delivery and business growth initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • Admitted to practise in Australia.
  • 5-6 years’ experience in construction or projects, gained at a top-tier law firm.
  • Strong transactional experience, with exposure to a broad range of construction contracts.
  • Experience in the mining sector is advantageous but not essential.
  • A mix of transactional and disputes experience will be considered.
  • Strong technical, commercial and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent communication, drafting and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
