About the Role
The role provides leadership, management, mentoring and support to the members of the Community Safety team to ensure Council meets all of its statutory obligations. The Community Safety team is responsible for delivering Council’s local laws, parking compliance, animal management and Animal Shelter programs, with the Team Leader – Community Safety, responsible for overall planning, program delivery, reporting and performance to assist in the safety, amenity, and environment of the Mornington Peninsula for the community and visitors.
As the Team Leader - Community Safety, you will you are a senior leader within the Regulatory Services Unit. You will lead a multi‑disciplinary team, exercise a high level of autonomy and professional judgement, and work collaboratively across Council to influence service delivery, system design and regulatory enforcement outcomes.
Reporting to the Manager - Regulatory Services the core responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and management of the Community Safety team members to ensure delivery of planned outcomes and alignment with Council values.
- Ensure effective financial management through efficient and regular monitoring of the Community Safety budget and the capital works program.
- Work closely with other members of the Regulatory Services Unit to ensure effective and consistent service for Council.
- Creates and fosters a positive culture and sense of safety and inclusiveness. Drives engagement and alignment of team members within the team and with the broader organisation.
About You
- Relevant qualifications in compliance and enforcement or a related field and/or significant demonstrated experience in enforcement and compliance roles.
- Demonstrated experience in local government and people management.
- Experience in a local government regulatory role.
- Experience in brief preparation and presenting evidence in court.
