Primary objective

Provide advice and support to the Commissioner and management team on strategic, operations and corporate governance

reporting, with a particular focus on human resource, financial budgeting and procurement.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Develop, implement and monitor OCC operational policies and procedures.

2. Provide advice and lead the delivery of a range of corporate services for the OCC, including but not limited to Corporate and

Governance Reporting, Financial Management, Records Management, Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety.

3. Develop comprehensive budgets/cashflow and provide business improvement supports, ensuring compliance with relevant

legislation, NTG policy and practices including but not limited to the Financial Management Act, Information Act, and Procurement

Guidelines.

4. Assist in preparation of ministerial briefings and other correspondence and submissions as required.

5. Coordinate OCC resources, including provision of day to day supports and issue resolution in relation to the OCC’s complaints

management system.

6. Supervision and skills development of Administration Officer (AO3).

7. Provide liaison with the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice, other Government agencies and external

organisations.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. High level organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and utilise

resources efficiently. Ability to respond to changing situations and circumstances and produce work of a high standard both

individually and as a team member.

2. An ability to provide quality business support to the Commissioner and the OCC including administrative, financial support and

assisting with the development and implementation of business systems, policies and procedures.

3. Proven skills in the effective use of a variety of computer applications and software, with an understanding of NT Government

office systems or similar such as TRIM, PIPS, Resolve, TRIPS and Boxi.

4. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, with a focus on Excel and the ability to develop and maintain complex spreadsheets.

5. Detailed knowledge of budget principles and processes, and the demonstrated ability to generate reports, analyse, and interpret

data.

6. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, including human resource management practices,

procedures and systems.

Desirable

1. A working knowledge of the Northern Territory Financial Management Act and Public Sector Employment Management Act

and other relevant legislation.

2. Qualifications in Business Management, Accounting or relevant field.
