Primary objective

Support the provision of high quality secretariat and executive services to the Department of Tourism and Hospitality and

the Secretariat unit.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide a high quality, effective and timely liaison between the department and the Minister’s Office.

2. Assist in the coordination and quality assurance of Cabinet Submissions and comments, Legislative Assembly briefs,

Estimates briefs, and processing of departmental replies to ministerial correspondence ensuring high standards are

maintained.

3. Assist in managing the NT Government’s Boards and Committees database on behalf of the Department, including

monitoring of expiration dates, nominations, and preparation of Cabinet documents for appointments.

4. Actively participate in quality improvement to secretariat systems, processes and competencies to assist the department

in achieving its objectives and timelines.

5. Support the preparation of high-quality briefings, Cabinet material and responses to whole-of-government reporting

requirements.

6. Provide advice, assistance and training to staff in the preparation of quality Ministerial correspondence and Cabinet

Submissions.

7. Provide an effective support service to the Manager Secretariat.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in a ministerial liaison or secretariat environment, with comprehensive knowledge and

understanding of Parliamentary and Legislative processes.

2. High level liaison and communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to proof and edit high-level correspondence

and documents with excellent attention to detail and document presentation.

3. High level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet

deadlines.

4. Experience in dealing with matters of a sensitive nature and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

5. Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision, using initiative, enthusiasm, and as part of a small team within an

area subject to constant change.

6. Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.

7. A willingness to work flexible hours as required to deliver key priorities
