Grid Connection Delivery Manager | Hyperscale Data Centre Developer

D'Arcy Weil

Lead the energisation of large-scale data centre sites — directing substation works from early feasibility through to live power.

  • Full ownership of grid connection delivery
  • Single point of accountability across operators and contractors
  • Deliver grid connection to schedule

The opportunity

D'Arcy Weil is representing a leading international data centre developer scaling its presence across Australia, and is seeking a Grid Connection Delivery Manager to lead power integration across an active build programme. You will manage the delivery of utility infrastructure across its full lifecycle — from initial feasibility to site energisation — partnering with the developer's energy, land and site teams to power large-scale facilities.

The role

You will hold accountability for substation and connection works from inception to completion, coordinating the network operators, delivery partners and internal functions responsible for bringing power to site. The objective is consistent: delivery on programme, within budget, and to the engineering and safety standards these facilities demand.

What you'll do

  • Provide project management leadership across every phase of an energy or substation project, maintaining technical compliance, safety and commercial control throughout
  • Engage transmission and distribution operators and head contractors to align standards, construction sequencing and planning obligations
  • Manage long lead procurement, including order timeframes, cost exposure, design dependencies and associated readiness activities
  • Oversee milestone tracking, status reporting, risk assessment and programme updates for internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the site team to integrate power requirements with base build activities and sequence concurrent works effectively
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to improve timelines, introduce innovation and strengthen overall delivery performance

What you'll need

  • A demonstrated record delivering substation or utility infrastructure projects
  • A sound understanding of transmission and distribution network operations and grid connection processes
  • The capability to manage complex energy programmes involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Strong commercial judgement, supported by a proactive approach to risk, compliance and schedule management

What's on offer

  • A competitive base salary plus performance incentive — confirmed in line with your experience at offer stage
  • The technical variety of hyperscale: greenfield substations, complex grid connections and substantial engineering challenge beyond routine maintenance
  • A clear forward pipeline of work, offering multi-year security rather than a single project engagement
  • Genuine autonomy from the outset, with the latitude to define the delivery approach
  • The scope to build and lead a team as the programme scales
  • Direct exposure to the energy infrastructure underpinning one of the country's most heavily invested sectors, and the professional profile that accompanies it
  • Support for your professional development and technical growth, including chartership and industry membership
  • A developer that operates at pace, with decisions, procurement and delivery progressed without the constraints of a traditional utility

  • A current CV detailing substation and grid connection projects you have delivered, including scale, value and your specific accountability on each
  • A short covering letter addressing your experience securing connections with transmission and distribution network operators, and your approach to managing long lead procurement and delivery risk
