We are seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is passionate about supporting children, families and community members to achieve better health and wellbeing outcomes. Working within the Building Stronger Foundations Program, you will partner closely with Child and Family Health Nurses to support Aboriginal families in accessing healthcare, community services and early childhood supports.

This role is about more than connecting people to services. It is about building trust, creating positive relationships and ensuring families feel culturally safe, respected and supported throughout their health journey.

You will work alongside parents, carers and families to help children get the best possible start in life while strengthening connections to health, wellbeing and community supports.

About the Role

In this position you will:

  • Assist Aboriginal families to access health, community and support services
  • Provide culturally appropriate information and practical support to help people navigate the health system
  • Work alongside parents, carers and families to promote positive health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Encourage participation in health programs and support attendance at appointments
  • Participate in community events, health promotion activities and family-focused programs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local services and community organisations
  • Work collaboratively with AWAHS staff to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children and families

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal children, families and community
  • An understanding of child and family wellbeing and the factors that influence healthy development
  • Qualifications in Aboriginal Health, Health, Community Services or a related field (desirable)
  • Relevant experience working with community, families or support services, or a willingness to learn and undertake training
  • The ability to connect with Aboriginal community members and promote culturally safe care and support
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
