The Opportunity

UniSC Clinical Trials (UniSC CT) is a rapidly growing, regionally connected clinical research operation delivering high-quality, impactful trials in partnership with healthcare providers, industry sponsors, and research leaders. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient management of biological samples that are critical to the success of clinical trials.

You will coordinate laboratory sample collection, processing, storage, and shipment across UniSC Clinical Trials, supporting trial integrity, participant safety, and regulatory compliance across multiple sites throughout South-East Queensland. Working within a collaborative and high-performing research environment, you will apply your technical expertise and strong attention to detail to help deliver meaningful research outcomes that positively impact community health.

Please note, this role requires flexibility to travel to different clinical trial sites as needed, and to work outside standard business hours to support confinement studies and other time-sensitive trial activities. You may also be required to participate in a 24/7 on-call or confinement roster.

You will

  • Coordinate the management of laboratory samples including collection, processing, and shipping (in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations) for all trials conducted at Uni SC Clinical Trials (UniSC CT); and
  • Collaborate with the UniSC CT teams, sponsors and sponsor representatives or delegates to ensure appropriate and efficient management of all clinical trial protocol nominated laboratory samples with adequate documentation

About you

You are a detail-oriented and proactive laboratory professional who thrives in regulated environments and understands the critical role laboratory operations play in clinical research. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

You will possess

  • Completion of in a health or science related degree and relevant laboratory experience – or equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training, and expertise;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice and applicable regulations;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Demonstrated competence in general laboratory practices and biological sample handling. Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) experience desirable;
  • High level computing skills (including databases, clinical trial electronic data entry, word processing and spreadsheets);
  • Previous experience in a clinical trial laboratory role/setting
