Details: The Legislation, Policy and Programs Division in the Justice and Community Safety Directorate is recruiting Senior Policy Officers for both the Civil and Regulatory Law Branch and Criminal Law Branch. Temporary opportunities are available across the branches, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.

Senior Policy Officers are responsible for undertaking complex legal policy work. They work to contribute to policy outcomes, including through regulatory and legislative reform; provide high level policy advice on complex issues, and prepare related reports, submissions, briefs and correspondence for the Senior Executive and Government. You will need excellent analytical, policy and legal research skills. You will need to be highly organised, pay attention to detail and be able to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders across government, the community sector and industry.

As a Senior Policy Officer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to developing and implementing policies and programs that have real and positive impacts in the community which promote and transform the protect the rights and responsibilities of ACT residents.

Opportunities are currently available in the following teams:

  • Housing and Consumer Protection
  • Frontline Criminal Justice
  • Liquor, Racing and Gaming Policy

Eligibility/Other requirements: Relevant tertiary qualifications in law or a related field or significant study towards gaining qualifications is highly desirable.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill identical vacancies over the next 12 months across the Division.
