The organisation

Southern Cross Care is a leading not-for-profit aged care provider, delivering residential aged care and home care services across multiple sites. With a values-driven culture and genuine commitment to the wellbeing of older people, the organisation is entering a significant phase of property investment, redevelopment and portfolio growth.

The opportunity

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Property Officer is an executive-level role with full accountability for the organisation's property and asset portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership position encompassing property strategy, capital works, facilities management and compliance, all in service of safe, high-quality care and sustainable growth.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a long-term property and asset strategy aligned with organisational growth and reform
  • Overseeing delivery of capital projects (new facilities, refurbishments and upgrades) on scope, time and budget
  • Leading facilities management and maintenance across all sites
  • Ensuring compliance with building, WHS, fire safety and aged care regulatory requirements
  • Managing leases, acquisitions and disposals, and providing board-level property reporting

The person

You are a senior property leader with a track record across complex, multi-site portfolios. You bring strategic capability alongside the commercial acumen to balance mission-driven outcomes with financial sustainability. Experience in health, aged care, community services or a similarly regulated environment is highly regarded.

You will offer:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Property, Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management or significant industry experience
  • Significant senior leadership experience across property strategy, capital delivery and facilities management
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, building codes and compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience engaging Boards and preparing high-quality reporting and business cases
