Content Producer

Committee for Sydney

We're looking for a content creator/producer to work with us to help make Sydney the best it can be.

In this casual, paid, one-day-a-week for six months internship, you would be making content to engage Sydneysiders in policy debates that affect them and the city’s future.

That could mean making an explainer post or reel for why a policy reform makes sense, creating motion graphics for a media story, making a Reddit thread on a breaking issue, or building reusable assets and templates to help us work faster when it counts.

The Committee for Sydney has accounts on LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, but there’s opportunity to go well beyond – the aim is making our policy work understandable, persuasive and shareable for online audiences.

In this role, you'll be supported throughout, working as part of the small Committee for Sydney team and reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs.

What we are looking for

  • Experience turning complex ideas into engaging video and social content
  • Gets the internet and is on top of social media trends, with experience or interest in using them to influence public conversations
  • Works quickly and creatively, takes direction and feedback well, and is prepared to give good constructive feedback – formal qualifications matter less than experience
  • Passionate about Sydney and excited to be part of its future.

We know our capacity to do great work is increased when our team comes from a range of experience and backgrounds, so if this speaks to you and your passions, we encourage you to consider applying.

It’s a real chance for students or early career designers to build hands-on experience in policy, communication and digital content.

This role is casual, paid $32 per hour + super, one day per week, for six months starting July.

The Committee for Sydney is an urban policy think tank, supported by 150 of the city’s organisations, across all sectors. We bring people together to come up with practical ideas to solve the critical challenges facing Sydney and create a better future for everyone who lives here. For example, improving the city’s transport infrastructure, solving the housing crisis, speeding the energy transition, and pushing for investment in creative culture. We follow the evidence and are respected for our independence and rigour. We don’t take sides politically, but we argue a strong case.

How to apply

Show us what you can do. Instead of a cover letter and CV, send us a short piece of content – a reel, a post, a thread, an infographic or short video, whatever format feels right – that tells us who you are and why you want this role. Send to ***email_hidden***.

Applications close Friday 3 July
