Details: The ACT Government Analytical Laboratory (ACTGAL) is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled professional to join its multidisciplinary team as an Equipment, Facility and Safety Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading scientific service that delivers internationally accredited analytical expertise across microbiology, environmental chemistry, forensic chemistry and forensic toxicology, while supporting laboratory research for a diverse range of stakeholders.
In this role, you will provide broad technical support across ACTGAL’s operations, ensuring the effective maintenance and performance of laboratory facilities, equipment and systems. You will play a vital role in sustaining a safe, efficient and high-quality laboratory environment by coordinating and supporting work health and safety activities and fostering a strong safety culture across the organisation. Working closely with managers, staff and students, you will deliver professional guidance and training to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practice.
You will also contribute to the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of documentation and quality artefacts associated with equipment, facility management and safety systems. This work is integral to maintaining ACTGAL’s rigorous quality framework and its internationally recognised certification and accreditation requirements, in collaboration with a dedicated Quality Team.

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 30 June 2026 until 15 January 2027 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A merit list will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
