Primary objective

Manage the development and delivery of assigned projects in the Region. Provide high level specialist advice in discipline area of expertise to

management, clients, other Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake and develop project scopes and proposals, cost estimates, procurements and contract administration in the region.

2. Undertake asset inspections, draft technical reports, oversee contract conditions and compliance (supervision) to ensure that projects comply

with current standards, codes and guidelines and all relevant clearances are obtained.

3. Coordinate work delegated to other Technical Officers assigned to particular projects.

4. Deliver assigned projects in the region, ensuring projects meet the client’s requirements in relation to time, cost and quality in accordance

with briefs provided by Client Departments.

5. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and environmental guidelines.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated relevant experience in project management closely related to the duties of the vacancy.

2. High level written and oral communications skills including the ability to prepare design, coordinate, assess and administer procurement

activity, and manage contractual arrangements.

3. Well-developed knowledge of infrastructure project management practices including best practice environmental management, in a relevant

area: transport and civil infrastructure, built infrastructure, or housing.

4. Well-developed information technology skills including word processing and spreadsheet software as well as project management and design

tools.

5. Well-developed working knowledge of the requirements of the relevant legislation including the Work Health Safety Act, and environmental

legislation and policies as applied in the NT, as well as a range of Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and associated Guidelines.

6. Current Driver’s Licence.

Desirable

1. Diploma in Project Management, Government Contract Management or similar.

2. Sound knowledge of business management and business drivers in a political and economic environment.

Primary objective

Manage the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, including capital works, and lead the activities of Project Managers, Project Officers, and external

service providers to ensure the provision of high-quality advice and services to client agencies across specific regions. Oversee all phases of the clients’

programs, contracts and major project planning to ensure projects are delivered in a timely, cost-effective, and professional manner in line with Northern

Territory Government (NTG) standards and objectives.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Manage a diverse range of client agency projects including complex infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, NTG

legislation, and relevant construction and technical standards.

2. Contribute to the overall success of the work unit and region by effectively managing the multi-disciplinary aspects of projects and coordinating

these disciplines within large-scale construction environments.

3. Provide expert project leadership, direction, and support to Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of projects that meet agreed time,

cost, quality, and performance targets.

4. Engage with client agencies throughout all stages of projects, ensuring they are informed and involved in key decision-making processes, including

any matters affecting delivery timeframes, costs, or facility functionality, and maintain effective relationships with senior-level stakeholders.

5. Manage financial, procurement, and reporting responsibilities for assigned projects and programs, ensuring compliance with governance, probity, and

accountability requirements, including NTG procurement processes and contract conditions.

6. Provide strategic advice and technical input on planning, program delivery, and operational improvements to support regional service delivery

outcomes.

7. Carry out all duties in accordance with departmental Work Health and Safety (WHS), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and environmental

proven experience managing higher-complexity projects, encompassing one or more of the following areas: transport and civil infrastructure, built

3. Extensive knowledge and experience in project planning, procurement, and contract management, including the ability to manage and supervise

contractors and consultants effectively in accordance with contract conditions, including NTG and NPWC-aligned processes, WHS Act and
