About the Role

As a personal injury lawyer at Ascent, you will own your own portfolio of client relationships and enjoy real autonomy in how you run your matters. You won't be doing it alone — you'll be backed by a dedicated claims handler and paralegal who take on much of the procedural and administrative work, freeing you to focus on what matters most: strategic advice, strong client outcomes, and building trusted relationships.

This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with clients, embraces smart use of technology and AI, and wants to spend their time on high-value legal work rather than paperwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Own your client relationships from first consultation through to resolution — providing strategic advice, managing expectations, and being the trusted point of contact clients rely on
• Direct your support team to handle the procedural work — file progression, medical records, research, correspondence with insurers and experts — while you stay focused on strategy and outcomes
• Make the key legal decisions on your matters, prepare for counsel, and represent clients at court and settlement conferences
• Build and nurture a network that generates referrals and new client enquiries — actively growing your own book of work
• Represent Ascent in the community and contribute to the firm's reputation and growth

What You'll Bring to the Role

Essential Attributes:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and file management abilities
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Genuine commitment to client care and achieving strong outcomes
• Tech-savviness — comfortable with digital tools, cloud-based platforms, and legal tech, and open to working alongside AI to work smarter
• Current QLS practising certificate

Desirable Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years PAE, ideally in Plaintiff Personal Injury law
• Previous experience in personal injury is highly regarded
• Mandarin or Cantonese language skills, to support our diverse client base, are highly regarded but not essential
