Engagement Officer
Troocoo
About The Organisation
Our client is a well-established not-for-profit organisation supporting veterans, current serving Defence members, and their families. With a strong presence across Queensland and over a century of history behind them, they deliver services and build connections that help the veteran community thrive beyond service.
About The Role
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will strengthen relationships between the organisation, its regional office and a network of local community branches. Each branch operates independently, so your role is to understand their unique needs and ensure they have the right tools, resources and training to operate effectively, maintain strong governance and deliver real outcomes for veterans.
This is a newly created position, so your first six months will focus on getting out to branches, listening, and establishing yourself as a trusted partner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with branches and the regional office
- Providing guidance on future planning, strategic development and governance
- Supporting compliance with ACNC and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Identifying and helping to resolve logistical, financial and compliance challenges
- Supporting member retention and engagement strategies
- Promoting participation in community initiatives and facilitating relationships with local councils, community groups and political representatives
You'll be based in the Cairns office when not on the road visiting branches, working Monday to Friday with flexible start and finish times. Occasional weekend work is required on an ad-hoc basis, balanced with time off in lieu.
About You
You will ideally bring:
- A history of service in the ADF or a close connection to the Defence community, or experience working with current or ex-serving personnel that has given you a strong understanding of the issues facing veterans and their families
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence outcomes
- Proven experience working autonomously and managing complex issues with competing interests
- Ability to read and understand annual reports, basic legislation and profit and loss statements
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Experience working with volunteers (highly regarded)
- A current driver's licence, access to your own vehicle at times, and ability to travel regionally
- A valid Blue Card, or eligibility to obtain one
