Bundanon is an art museum embedded in approximately 1,000 hectare landscape, in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The organisation’s mission is to operate the Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, to support the development of arts practice across all disciplines and to enable public access to the arts and to the landscape. Bundanon’s vision is to promote creativity and learning based in a unique cultural and natural landscape.

About The Role

The Natural Resources Management (NRM) Assistant supports the delivery of Bundanon’s Natural Resource Management program, contributing to the care, maintenance and presentation of the organisation’s natural and built environment. Working as part of a small team, the role assists with environmental conservation, land management and day-to-day land operations.

What You Will Do...

Natural Environment

  • Support the delivery of natural resource management programs across bushland, gardens, parklands and farm areas.
  • Assist with environmental and conservation programs, including, regeneration, grants and partnership projects plus funded activities.
  • Support contractor and stakeholder activities, including but not limited to, weed control, garden maintenance, reforestation maintenance and bushland programs
  • Contribute to seasonal work planning and prioritisation.

Land Maintenance

  • Assist with general land and estate maintenance including tracks, fencing, grounds and infrastructure
  • Operate tools, equipment and machinery (where qualified and trained)
  • Support vegetation management, erosion control and land care activities
  • Maintain safe, clean and accessible environments across the property.

Reporting & Support

  • Assist in reviewing key internal documents related to land and environmental management
  • Assist with preparing basic reports, field summaries and meeting notes
  • Assist with contractor coordination and tracking of works, labour and inputs
  • Support documentation and reporting requirements across environmental, WHS and organisational programs
  • Maintain basic records, logs and work documentation

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualification, vocational training or current study in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Horticulture or a related field.
  • Experience undertaking outdoor work such as bush regeneration, weed management, gardening, farming, grounds maintenance or similar activities.
  • Ability to safely use tools, equipment and machinery, or willingness to undertake training as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Basic administrative and record-keeping skills, including the ability to maintain work documentation and use Microsoft Office applications.
