Cybersecurity Business Analyst needed for a 12-month hybrid contract in Brisbane, driving ASD Essential Eight uplifts across complex systems
- Contract Length: 12-month contract (06/07/2026 to 02/07/2027)
- Location: North Brisbane – 50% Hybrid
- Rate: $79 - $85 per hour + super
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Cybersecurity Business Analyst to support the successful delivery of a major Essential Eight Uplift Initiative.
In this role, you will undertake critical business analysis activities across multiple cybersecurity uplift work packages to support the implementation of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Essential Eight framework.
Working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and cybersecurity specialists, you will bridge the gap between technical security requirements and business operations. Your insights will ensure that security uplift activities are practical, sustainable, risk-based, and seamlessly aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Elicitation & Management: Elicit, analyse, document, and maintain business, functional, and non-functional requirements while ensuring end-to-end traceability.
- Process Modeling: Document and analyse existing and future-state business processes (As-Is and To-Be), identifying business/operational impacts and dependencies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to resolve competing priorities and help stakeholders navigate proposed cybersecurity changes.
- Uplift Planning: Support capability maturity assessments, gap analysis, future-state design, and operational readiness activities across people, process, and technology domains.
- Governance & Standards: Contribute to project governance, reporting, and assurance activities, ensuring all artefacts comply with organisational standards and frameworks.
Mandatory Criteria
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- Demonstrated experience supporting cybersecurity initiatives (e.g., Essential Eight, Zero Trust, Secure by Design) within complex ICT or business transformation environments.
- Proven experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and driving requirements elicitation activities.
- Strong experience documenting business processes (As-Is/To-Be), business requirements, and future-state designs.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to work effectively across both business and technical teams.
Highly Desirable Skills
- Experience conducting capability assessments, gap analysis, and operating model reviews.
- Previous experience working within the Queensland Government or other large public sector environments.
- Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, or similar.
