The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a proactive individual to assist in the planning and management of the natural and built environment of the Bega Valley Shire, including assessment of planning and development proposals, and providing specialist planning advisory services to a range of development stakeholders and the community.

As a Graduate Town Planner, you will assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence and other advice relating to development matters, as well as interpret and administer Council's Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans and Contribution Plans, circulars and procedures. You will investigate complaints relating to land use and assist the Planning Coordinator and Senior Town Planner in the preparation of evidence, court documents, as required.

About You

We are seeking an individual who holds a degree level qualification in Urban and Regional Planning (or equivalent) or nearing completion of degree, and has 2 years recent related work experience (indicative).

You will have the following skills and experience;

  • Demonstrated broad understanding of planning principles and development assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant environmental planning legislation, including: Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, State Environmental Planning Policies, Local Environmental Plans, circulars and relevant policies.
  • Experience and ability in assessment and making recommendations on a range of development applications.
  • High level analytical and investigative skills including demographic, socio-economic and land use supply and demand.

Benefits

This is a permanent, full time position working 35 hours per week.

The total remuneration package for this position commences at $99,303.86 gross per annum, comprising of:

  • $1,705.08 per week base salary
  • $204.61 per week superannuation (calculated at 12%)
