This is an opportunity to help protect and enhance the Coles reputation through strategic communications, proactive storytelling and stakeholder engagement.

What You Will Do

As our new Communications Manager, you'll support communications across a range of high-profile retail topics, including sustainability, community impact, customer experience, major business initiatives and reputation management.

You'll develop and deliver communication strategies that support business priorities, strengthen stakeholder relationships and enhance the Coles reputation. Working closely with leaders, media and external stakeholders, you'll identify proactive opportunities, manage corporate affairs activity and contribute to high-impact reputation and engagement initiatives.

You will also

  • Build and maintain relationships with media, journalists and key external stakeholders.
  • Create compelling content including media releases, briefing materials, leadership communications and stakeholder messaging.
  • Support issues and crisis communications, providing timely and effective advice.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends and stakeholder sentiment, delivering insights and recommendations.

About You And Your Skills

You are an experienced communications professional with a background in corporate communications, media relations, public affairs or journalism. You may be working in a corporate, agency, government or media environment and are looking to apply your expertise across a broad portfolio in a highly visible organisation.

You will also have

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong media relations expertise and established media networks.
  • Sound judgement and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate business objectives into communication strategies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including experience partnering with senior leaders.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative, resilient and solutions-focused approach, with a passion for storytelling and reputation management.
