Agricultural Trade Assistant – Permanent Full-Time

$30 to $35 per hour + OT + Super + Profit Share Bonus Scheme - Rate Negotiable within this range based on experience.

Put your practical mechanical skills to work and help keep the wheels turning. We’re recruiting an Agricultural Trade Assistant to join our team.

This is a full-time position based mainly in Echuca, with increased hours and travel to farm sites required during harvest periods .

Kagome Australia is a leading agribusiness with farms located across regional Victoria and New South Wales.

Reporting to the Harvest Operations Manager, you’ll support Kagome’s maintenance team to keep our fleet moving — including harvesters, tractors, forklifts, light vehicles and irrigation pumps — through servicing, inspections, repairs, maintenance support and general hands-on work.

You’ll assist with preventive and breakdown maintenance, support fault-finding activities, learn from experienced team members, and contribute to practical improvements that reduce downtime and keep operations performing at their best.

You’ll be expected to work safely, follow site procedures and contribute to a practical, team-focused maintenance culture.

Support harvest operations by assisting with planned maintenance, inspections, servicing and repairs to help reduce downtime.

Assist with maintaining and repairing Kagome’s agricultural plant, machinery, vehicles and equipment under direction from experienced maintenance personnel.

Assist with general mechanical fitting, servicing, inspections and workshop tasks.

Support work involving heavy diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic auto-electrical systems, in line with your experience and competency.

During harvest, be available for increased hours and work at farm or remote sites as required.

During harvest, support area crews and, where required, assist with supervising harvest operations, including practical tasks, site movements and operational support during peak periods.

Essential

• • Current unrestricted car driver’s licence.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, with the ability to recognise issues, ask questions, follow instructions and assist with practical solutions.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively within a team, including during busy harvest periods.
  • Availability for increased hours and work at farm or remote sites during harvest periods.
  • Current full working rights in Australia.

Desirable

• • Relevant practical experience operating, maintaining, repairing or refurbishing vehicles, machinery, plant, equipment or similar mechanical systems.
  • Current High-Risk Work Licence – Forklift (LF).
  • Exposure to heavy diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic or basic auto-electrical systems.
  • Experience supporting or supervising harvest crews or similar operational teams.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, practical, safety-focused and willing to learn.
