About the role

Reporting To: FSQ Manager

The role is responsible for leading the Quality Control function and ensuring the effective implementation of Kerry’s global food safety, quality, and compliance standards. It is instrumental in maintaining product integrity, supporting operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and laboratory operations.

As a key member of the Quality team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements while fostering a culture of quality and food safety throughout the site.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Quality Control team, ensuring efficient laboratory operations, timely testing, and product release activities.
  • Manage production laboratories, including laboratory resources, equipment, calibration programs, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Partner with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to deliver high levels of internal customer service and support business objectives.
  • Support and oversee prerequisite programs, including GMP, sanitation, environmental monitoring, and pest control programs.
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve food safety and quality management systems in alignment with Kerry global standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the Quality representative and gatekeeper for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring products are successfully transferred into manufacturing.
  • Lead investigations into quality and food safety issues using structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC), data analysis, and process capability tools (CpK) to identify opportunities for process optimization and quality improvement.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, training, and development for laboratory personnel to build a high-performing team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance performance.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure readiness for customer, regulatory, and certification assessments.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience within Quality Assurance or Quality Control in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems, quality management principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with HACCP, risk assessments, prerequisite programs, and food safety investigations.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive accountability across functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience applying RCA, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change, process improvement, and quality excellence initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of food industry standards and certifications such as BRCGS, SQF, HACCP, GMP, WQA, and AQIS.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, and quality performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with global food safety and quality frameworks within a multinational manufacturing environment.
