The Role
Our Finance team are currently seeking to hire a Finance Business Partner to support our Leaders in delivering financial outcomes by providing financial insights, analysis, guidance and advice.
This role requires partnering with senior leaders, middle management and other leaders to develop and deliver budgets, forecasting, performance reporting, financial modelling and the interpretation of financial results and performance. The key area of focus is on analysis and reporting to promote performance improvement and guidance on how the business area can meet their financial objectives both now and in the long term.
This is a full time role based in our corporate office in Fortitude Valley.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and deliver the annual operational financial planning and forecasting cycles
- Collaborate with service leaders to develop accurate, realistic budget proposals and forecasts, including ongoing monitoring of financial performance against budgets.
- Provide insights, analysis and recommendations through management reporting, presentations and meetings.
- Assist to develop management reporting processes, stakeholder communications and timetables
- Financial modelling for business case preparation for new funding/projects.
- Lead and challenge operational leaders in the review of financial performance, evaluation of business practices and research into potential solutions to optimise business opportunities
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of financial reports to regulatory bodies including audits, funding acquittals and benchmarking activities.
- Provide support to ensure all risks associated with business strategy and planning decisions are identified and monitored and appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place
- Train, coach and lead management accountant/s in supporting the delivery of outcomes for the portfolio and the broader FPA team.
- Contribute to ideas for improved ways of working and assist with the implementation of change
Requirements
- National Police Check
- Queensland Driver Licence
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or business.
- CPA, CA or equivalent certification
- Experience working as a Finance Business Partner in a complex, multi-program organisation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, issues and opportunities
- Experience in providing financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts into actionable insights and strategic recommendations
- Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting and forecasting with strong understanding of cost management, revenue streams, and profitability analysis
- Proven ability to engage and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and external parties
- Ability to identify potential improvements to processes and service standards
- Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other relevant contemporary applications (e.g. PowerBI, Workday Adaptive)
