About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Transport Manager to lead our Pick Up and Delivery (PUD) transport operations based in Kewdale, WA. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transport operations while delivering strong customer outcomes, operational performance, and financial results.
You will provide day-to-day leadership to frontline teams, oversee fleet and subcontractor performance, and ensure all transport activities align with organisational policies, industrial relations requirements, and safety legislation. Working closely with senior management, you will play a key role in workforce planning, operational decision making, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role requires a strong leader who can balance operational delivery with people leadership, safety compliance, and commercial accountability in a high-volume transport environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Lead PUD transport operations to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable service.
Deliver budgets, KPIs, and business plans aligned to strategy.
Optimise fleet, workforce, and assets to improve efficiency and profitability.
Monitor daily performance and review Branch P&L.
Customer & Service
Drive a strong customer-first culture.
Resolve service issues and escalate risks.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure service delivery.
People Leadership
Lead and develop frontline teams to build performance and capability.
Manage performance, development, succession, and engagement.
Oversee HR and IR compliance and processes.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure CoR, Heavy Vehicle, and HSE compliance.
Promote safety culture and manage incidents and investigations.
Support emergency and safety committee responsibilities.
Assets & Improvement
Manage subcontractors and fleet performance.
Improve asset utilisation and reduce costs.
Drive continuous improvement in safety, service, and efficiency.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Proven experience in transport, logistics, or freight operations leadership- desirable
Strong background managing frontline operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
Solid understanding of transport compliance, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and Heavy Vehicle legislation.
Experience managing operational budgets and contributing to P&L performance.
Strong people leadership, coaching, and performance management capability.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A strong commitment to safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
