Funded through the National Autism Strategy, the Improving Social Connections program is a major new national initiative designed to strengthen peer connection, reduce social isolation and build belonging for Autistic people, families and carers across Australia.

Delivered by Aspect in partnership with Reframing Autism, the program will establish a national Framework, Information Hub, Community Partner network and resources that support meaningful, community-led peer connection opportunities across the country.

About the role

Lead the delivery of this nationally significant, Autistic-led initiative with responsibility for national coordination, program delivery, and achievement of positive outcomes. This is an opportunity to contribute to lasting change and help build something that will have impact well beyond the life of the program.

As National Coordination Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the program, overseeing governance, Community Partner funding, development of enduring assets and program evaluation. You will work closely with Reframing Autism, Autistic leaders, government stakeholders and community organisations to ensure the program delivers meaningful and sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead program delivery, governance and strategic partnerships
  • Oversee Framework, Information Hub and resource development and delivery
  • Design and implement Community Partner on-funding program
  • Oversee program evaluation, quality, safeguarding and continuous improvement
  • Manage financial performance, reporting, risk management and compliance
  • Ensure meaningful Autistic leadership across all aspects of the program
  • Build strong relationships with government, sector and community stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Lived experience of autism (desirable) or experience working in partnership with the Autistic community
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health, disability, social sciences, community development or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to lead, support and develop a multidisciplinary team and build a positive, inclusive culture
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong program management, governance and risk management experience
  • Understanding of peer support, community development or capacity building models
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to accessibility, inclusion and neurodiversity-affirming practice
  • Passion for creating positive community impact

Please click here to view the Position Profile. This is a full time, 3 year max term contract role. The annual salary ranges from $190,000- $206,000 (full time equivalent) inclusive of superannuation, and is dependent on qualifications and experience.
