The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to step into the role of Head of Active Communities, leading the evolution of our City of Sydney contract into a community-centred Active Wellbeing service.
This is a unique opportunity to drive a shift from traditional leisure delivery to a preventative health and wellbeing model, with a focus on inclusion, equity and measurable social impact.
Working across six iconic aquatic and leisure centres, you will operate at the intersection of strategy, operations and community, embedding a new way of thinking and delivering meaningful outcomes for diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of place-based, community-led engagement strategies
- Drive the implementation of the Active Wellbeing model across all sites
- Champion co-design and co-production with communities
- Design and deliver inclusive programs that improve participation and wellbeing
- Build strong partnerships across health, community and education sectors
- Oversee community programs, funding and enabling initiatives
- Develop integrated participation pathways and referral networks
- Lead evaluation and reporting frameworks for social and health outcomes
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Active Communities team
About you
You are a purpose-led, strategic leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about driving community impact.
You will bring;
- Leadership experience in community development, public health, social impact or active communities
- Proven success delivering place-based or system-level initiatives
- Strong experience building cross-sector partnerships
- Experience working with diverse communities facing barriers
- Ability to balance community outcomes with commercial realities
- A collaborative leadership style that drives cultural change
Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a related field
