About The Role

The Operations division is responsible for operating today’s systems and market securely and reliably, along with supporting AEMO to navigate the energy future. The Market Management department sits within the Operations division and is responsible for the sound financial management of Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM), Western Australian Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and east coast gas markets. The functions include settlement, prudential management, metering and retail market operations.

You will use your analytical skills and operational knowledge to execute complex operational processes in compliance with relevant regulations, rules and procedures. This will contribute to ongoing market enhancement and process improvement.

Provide high quality stakeholder support and establish excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform BAU settlement activities, including daily processing, validation, and reconciliation tasks to ensure accurate and timely delivery of settlement outcomes.
  • Identify and undertake root cause analysis to identify, report, assess and manage technical and operational issues and risks.
  • Recommend process improvements that reduce compliance risk and improve operational efficiency and organisational capability.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, provide high quality support and respond to detailed market queries.
  • Understand and effectively communicate detailed concepts.

What You Will Bring To The Role

  • Degree in economics, computing, commerce, engineering, science or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a commercial or regulatory environments operating in compliance with technical documents and/or legal instruments, such as rules and regulations.
  • Adept with technology tools such as Excel Neo, Power BI, Python and SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high quality written reports and deliver effective presentations which communicate technical concepts
  • A real passion to understand the key issues impacting the energy sector.
