Job Role
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will serve as a senior executive responsible for providing commercial leadership, capital markets engagement, strategic financial planning support, and Board-level decision analysis across the organization. The role focuses on evaluating commercial opportunities, supporting corporate growth strategies, optimizing capital allocation decisions, and strengthening relationships with investors, analysts, financial institutions, and strategic stakeholders.
Working closely with the CEO, CFO, Board of Directors, and external advisors, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping corporate strategy, evaluating funding alternatives, supporting capital market activities, and delivering commercial insights that drive long-term shareholder value. This position is highly suitable for experienced commercial leaders with strong backgrounds in mining, natural resources, corporate finance, investment banking, corporate development, or capital markets environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial leadership and strategic advice to executive management and the Board on corporate growth initiatives, capital allocation decisions, partnerships, restructuring activities, and investment opportunities.
- Lead commercial evaluation of exploration projects, development opportunities, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic transactions.
- Support the annual budgeting process by providing strategic commercial assumptions, financial scenario analysis, and long-term planning inputs.
- Develop and maintain commercial financial models to assess funding requirements, project economics, investment returns, and capital deployment strategies.
- Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity assessments related to commodity prices, development schedules, operational performance, funding structures, and market conditions.
- Support debt, equity, and alternative funding initiatives by preparing commercial analyses, investor materials, and transaction support documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, investment banks, brokers, research analysts, and capital market participants.
- Prepare investor presentations, Board papers, market updates, commercial reports, and strategic recommendation documents.
- Monitor industry trends, market developments, peer performance, investor sentiment, and capital market activity to support executive decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with finance, operations, technical, and corporate teams to ensure alignment between commercial strategy and operational execution.
- Ensure all commercial communications and investor-facing materials support regulatory compliance and corporate governance requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen commercial processes, capital planning frameworks, and strategic decision-making capability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- MBA, CA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant postgraduate or professional qualifications are highly preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience across corporate development, investment banking, corporate finance, equities research, commercial leadership, strategy consulting, or related functions.
- Demonstrated experience within mining, natural resources, metals, energy, or resource development industries.
- Proven experience supporting executive leadership teams, Boards of Directors, or publicly listed companies in strategic decision-making and commercial evaluation activities.
- Experience supporting capital raising activities, debt financing, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance principles, valuation methodologies, capital markets, project economics, and investment analysis.
- Advanced financial modeling capability with experience developing complex scenario models, valuation frameworks, and investment decision tools.
- Strong understanding of public company governance, regulatory reporting requirements, and investor relations best practices.
- Experience preparing Board-level presentations, investment memorandums, market communications, and strategic recommendation papers.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate complex financial, operational, and technical information into clear commercial insights.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- High levels of integrity, commercial judgment, professionalism, and executive presence.
- Ability to operate effectively within dynamic environments, manage competing priorities, and perform under pressure.
- Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel as required.
- Professional-level written and spoken English communication skills are mandatory.
