Role Purpose / Responsibilities
We are seeking a Research Project Manager to support the efficient delivery of the group’s research program by providing expert project management, regulatory compliance support, and research assistance across various studies.
The successful candidate will bring a proactive and organised approach to research operations, with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, stakeholder-rich research environment.
The Following Duties Will Apply
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day operational activities across ICAN Group research projects, including clinical trials and epidemiological studies, to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, risk registers, and reporting schedules, and proactively identify and address issues that may affect project delivery.
- Organise and coordinate meetings with internal and external collaborators, prepare agendas and minutes, and track action items to completion.
- Prepare, submit, and manage Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) applications, amendments, and annual progress reports in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and QIMR Berghofer policies.
- Assist with data collection, data entry, and quality assurance activities across research projects, maintaining accuracy and adherence to study protocols.
- Support the coordination and delivery of clinical trial activities, including participant recruitment, scheduling, and follow-up procedures.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, or a related discipline.
- Project management or research coordination experience in a health, medical research, or academic environment, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outputs on time.
- Proven ability in the preparation and submission of human research ethics applications, including experience navigating HREC processes and maintaining ongoing ethics compliance.
- Demonstrated experience providing high-quality research assistance, including data collection, data management, and contribution to research outputs such as publications or reports.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Remuneration: Salary range is $95,181 - $106,234 (SO3) or $109,791 - $121,898 (SO4) plus super and generous salary packaging. The level of appointment will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
This position is available on either a part-time or full-time basis for a fixed-term of up to 12 months, with the hours of work to be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
