The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Technical Lead / Engineering Manager to join a major project team delivering a significant processing infrastructure development within the resources sector.

Valued at approximately $250 million, the project involves the delivery of a new processing facility designed to improve operational performance and support long-term production objectives.

Reporting to the Study Manager, this role will act as the owner's representative for engineering delivery, providing leadership across engineering governance, stakeholder engagement, project controls and contractor management as the project transitions from study into execution.

The Role

This position has been established to provide a single point of accountability for engineering delivery and stakeholder coordination across the project.

You will serve as the key interface between the project team, engineering contractor and operational stakeholders, ensuring engineering activities progress efficiently while maintaining alignment with project objectives, budget, schedule and governance requirements.

The role offers a balanced mix of engineering leadership, project management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Manage the relationship between the owner's team and engineering service providers
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with project scope, budget and schedule
  • Drive engineering performance through regular design reviews and coordination meetings
  • Review engineering deliverables and support technical approval processes
  • Develop and maintain engineering management plans and execution strategies
  • Facilitate resolution of engineering queries, RFIs, RFQs and technical issues
  • Support progression from study phase through detailed design and execution readiness
  • Provide technical support during construction and field activities as required

Stakeholder & Operational Interface

  • Act as the primary liaison between the project and operational stakeholders
  • Facilitate stakeholder participation in engineering and design reviews
  • Understand operational requirements and constraints impacting project delivery
  • Drive resolution of technical and operational issues
  • Coordinate participation in safety reviews, risk workshops and design reviews
  • Build productive working relationships across operations, maintenance, engineering and project teams

Project Management & Governance

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget and engineering performance
  • Support project governance and approval processes
  • Participate in change management activities and facilitate approvals where required
  • Contribute to project risk management and reporting
  • Support contract administration and procurement activities
  • Contribute to monthly reporting and project performance reviews
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental and engineering standards

Experience

We are interested in speaking with experienced project delivery leaders who can bridge the gap between engineering, project management and stakeholder engagement.

You will likely bring:

  • 10–15+ years' experience within mining, minerals processing, energy or heavy industry
  • Demonstrated experience in a Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, Project Engineering Manager, Project Manager or equivalent senior project leadership role
  • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering delivery on major capital projects
  • Experience managing EPCM contractors and external engineering service providers
  • Exposure to both study and execution phases of project delivery
  • Strong understanding of project controls, budgets, schedules, risk management and governance processes
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder groups across operations, engineering and project teams
  • Ability to provide technical leadership while maintaining focus on commercial and project delivery outcomes
  • Experience gained within an EPCM, contractor or owner's team environment will be highly regarded.
