About the Client
Our client is a highly successful, fast-growing, family-owned Australian manufacturing and services enterprise. They beautifully blend the rapid pace and commercial ambition of a scaling business with the supportive, long-term culture of a family-focused group. Operating across multiple distinct business divisions, including modular manufacturing and commercial product sales—they are on a clear, aggressive trajectory to scale toward $45M+ in revenue.
The company runs on a highly structured corporate operating system, valuing high standards, operational grit, and a strong sense of personal ownership.
The Opportunity
We are not looking for a traditional, back-office "bean counter." We need a commercially sharp, system-savvy
Financial Controller who owns the integrity of the data and, just as importantly, makes it mean something to the people running the business.
This is a true business-partnering role. Reporting directly to the CEO and a Fractional CFO, you will turn raw financial figures into forward-looking three-way forecasts, clear divisional profitability reports, and an actionable narrative that the board and operational managers can use to make smart decisions. You will be expected to actively hunt for margin, identifying cost-saving and profitability opportunities, while systematically automating finance workflows to keep the function incredibly lean and agile.
Key Responsibilities
- Divisional & Project Profitability: Produce clear P&L reporting across multiple business entities. Track project-level margins on complex builds (estimate vs. actual) and lead post-project reviews to drive pricing discipline alongside operations.
- Financial Storytelling & Literacy: Translate complex balance sheet and P&L metrics into clear, high-impact narratives for non-finance audiences. Educate operational managers on open-book principles so they understand how their day-to-day decisions impact the bottom line.
- Three-Way Forecasting: Own, update, and manage integrated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow models weekly to support working capital management and strategic growth decisions.
- ERP Ownership & Foundations: Act as the primary financial owner of the group's modern Cloud ERP platform. Supervise day-to-day AP, AR, payroll controls, intercompany consolidations, and manage all statutory lodgements (BAS, GST grouping, and tax consolidations).
What You Bring
- Qualifications: CA or CPA qualified.
- The Experience: Proven background as a Financial Controller (or a high-performing Senior Management Accountant ready to step up) within a multi-entity environment.
- Business Model Versatility: Ideally, you have depth across a mix of distinct accounting treatments: Manufacturing WIP/costing, Project/Contract revenue recognition, Hire/Asset utilisation, and Import/FX landed-costs.
- Tech & Automation Mindset: Strong hands-on ownership of mid-tier Cloud ERPs (e.g., Odoo, NetSuite, Business Central, MYOB Advanced). You view recurring manual tasks as an inefficiency to be eliminated or automated.
- Desirable Extras: Experience working within an EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, open-book management cultures, or utilising modern automation and reporting tools (like Power BI).
Why Apply?
If you want to escape rigid corporate silos, step away from the daily drag of the CBD commute, and move into a high-visibility role where your insights directly shape the commercial success of a $45M group, this is your next step.
