Position Summary
We are looking for a Counter Manager who is dedicated to retail and has a strong passion for beauty and fragrance to join our Adelaide team!
The Counter Manager is the Givenchy brand leader on counter, responsible for delivering strong commercial results while upholding the highest standards of luxury service and brand image.
This role is accountable for driving sales performance, leading the team, and ensuring the counter operates at an exceptional level at all times. The Counter Manager represents Givenchy values, leads by example, and ensures the brand is positioned as a top-performing counter within the store.
The Counter Manager reports directly to the Retail Manager.
Job Responsibilities
COMMERCIAL PERFORMANCE & SALES LEADERSHIP
- Own and deliver weekly and monthly sales targets, ensuring consistent achievement of KPIs
- Drive minimum hourly productivity targets and maximise conversion at all times
- Track daily, weekly and monthly performance and take immediate action when off track
- Lead by example in client engagement, storytelling and closing sales
- Drive multi-category selling across fragrance, makeup and skincare
- Set clear individual targets and hold the team accountable to performance
Client Experience & Brand Excellence
- Deliver a luxury client experience through strong storytelling and personalised service
- Elevate the client journey through fragrance discovery and skincare consultations
- Ensure Givenchy is consistently recognised as a leading brand in service and execution
- Maintain exceptional standards in grooming, posture and overall brand presentation
TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
- Lead, coach and develop the team to deliver high performance
- Drive a results-focused culture with clear expectations and accountability
- Conduct regular coaching, feedback and performance conversations
- Ensure the team represents Givenchy as best-in-class Brand Ambassadors
STOCK MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS PROTECTION
- Proactively manage stock to prevent lost sales opportunities
- Ensure strong availability of top-selling SKUs and key lines
- Identify and escalate out-of-stock risks immediately
- Maintain full tester availability and ensure counter readiness at all times
- Complete and submit tester and stock requests in a timely manner
ANIMATIONS & COMMERCIAL EXECUTION
- Take full ownership of all hotspots, animations and promotional activity
- Ensure readiness across stock, staffing and VM prior to all activations
- Maximise results during peak trade periods and key events
- Identify and act on all opportunities to drive additional revenue
VISUAL MERCHANDISING & COUNTER STANDARDS
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, tester hygiene and merchandising
- Ensure all VM guidelines are implemented accurately and consistently
- Keep the counter visually compelling and client-ready at all times
OPERATIONS, REPORTING & COMMUNICATION
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all sales reporting and administrative tasks
- Provide regular qualitative and quantitative feedback on performance and competition
- Maintain strong communication with Retail Manager and store management
- Build and maintain a collaborative relationship with David Jones stakeholders
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY
The Counter Manager is accountable for delivering both commercial performance and brand excellence, ensuring Givenchy remains a top-performing brand within the store.
Profile
Proven retail management experience (3–5 years preferred) Strong background in luxury, beauty or fragrance Demonstrated ability to drive sales and lead high-performing teams Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills Results-driven with a proactive and solution-focused mindset Passion for the Givenchy brand and luxury client experience Able to work retail trading hours, which includes weekends and late-night shopping.
