Job Description
- Manage the capitalisation of assets in accordance with accounting standards and council policies
- Perform regular asset reconciliations and ensure accuracy of the asset register
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting related to fixed assets
- Support audit processes and respond to audit queries regarding asset accounting
- Manage and monitor Work in Progress (WIP) balances to ensure timely capitalisation of completed projects and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain and update asset records within Technology One (or similar ERP systems)
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure correct asset classification and reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements within asset management practices
The Successful Applicant
A Successful Financial Accountant (Assets) Should Have
- A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in asset accounting, including capitalisation and reconciliations.
- Ideally background in local government.
- Experience using Technology One or similar financial systems.
- Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and asset management practices (highly desirable).
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
